1. Overview & Data Philosophy
GPS - Geo Tagging Map Camera ("we", "our", or "the application") is developed and published by HVG INFOTECH LLP. We believe field documentation and surveying tools must respect user data sovereignty and privacy.
The application is engineered with a strict local-first, zero-telemetry architecture. We do not require you to create an account, register with an email address, or provide any personal identification to use any feature of the application.
2. Android System Permissions & Exact Justification
To capture geotagged photographs, add geographical metadata, and generate PDF inspection reports, the application requests the following Android system permissions:
| Permission | Purpose & Justification |
|---|---|
| CAMERA | Required to preview camera feed and capture high-resolution photos with live geotag overlays. Camera frames are processed strictly in device memory and never transmitted externally. |
| ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION | Accesses device location while you use location-based features to add latitude, longitude, elevation, and direction data to photo stamps and EXIF metadata when available. |
| ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION | Enables fast initial cellular/Wi-Fi position estimation while the device achieves a high-precision satellite lock. |
| System Photo Picker | The Geotag Gallery Photo feature opens Android's system picker so you choose a specific image. The app does not request broad access to your entire media library. |
| WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Required on Android 9 and lower to save stamped JPEG photos and generated PDF Site Inspection reports to your device storage. (On Android 10+, standard scoped storage / MediaStore APIs are used). |
| INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Used to fetch street address names (reverse geocoding) from OpenStreetMap Nominatim and current ambient weather metrics from Open-Meteo. Also used to verify connectivity state. |
3. Foreground Location vs. Background Location Policy
GPS - Geo Tagging Map Camera does not request or use background location (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION).
Location data is accessed strictly while you are actively using the application in the foreground (e.g., viewing the live viewfinder, setting a custom pin on the map, or geotagging a gallery photo).
As soon as you minimize the app, switch to another application, or lock your screen, all location listeners and GPS hardware polling terminate immediately. Your movements are never tracked in the background.
4. Data Storage, Ownership & Deletion
4.1 100% User Ownership
All photographs captured, watermarks rendered, and PDF inspection reports generated belong entirely to you. Files are stored directly in your device's standard media folders (e.g., DCIM/GPSMapCamera and Documents/SiteReports).
4.2 Permanent Data Deletion
- Individual Deletion: You can delete any stamped photo directly within the in-app Geotag Library or via your device's native gallery app.
- Clear App Cache: You can reset all saved template preferences and cached map tiles at any time in Android Settings > Apps > GPS - Geo Tagging Map Camera > Storage > Clear Storage.
- App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the application permanently deletes all private sandbox preferences and databases.
5. Third-Party Geocoding & Weather APIs
When you choose online address lookup or weather details, the app sends the selected coordinates to the public services below to return the requested result. These services receive location data for that request; the app does not send an account identity, advertising ID, or a photo.
Translates coordinates (latitude and longitude) into human-readable road and city names. The coordinate is sent only when address lookup is requested; no account identity, device serial number, or advertising ID is included.
Provides current temperature, sky condition, and humidity for your selected location stamp. Coordinates are sent only when weather is requested; the app does not use the response for advertising or profiling.
6. Analytics & Advertising Disclosures
GPS - Geo Tagging Map Camera Version 1.0 does not contain behavioral analytics frameworks (such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or Segment) and does not conduct cross-app user tracking.
We do not track which inspection sites you visit, what projects you work on, or what photos you take. Your field operations remain strictly confidential.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our service is directed at professionals, surveyors, civil engineers, and adult explorers. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly purge any relevant data.
